ACAN Carbon Clinic Session 05 – Embodied Carbon Regulation – Are We Ready?
oktober 28, 2025 @ 18:30 - 20:30 GMT
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from the key authors of AECOM’s Report for MHCLG (Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government) on the impacts of measuring and reducing embodied carbon in the built environment.
ACAN! Carbon Clinics is a knowledge-sharing campaign run by ACAN!’s Embodied Carbon Group. This series of events aims to provide practical insights from industry experts and to facilitate discussions on the challenges and opportunities of adopting Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCAs) in the built environment.
This session: “Embodied Carbon Regulation – Are We Ready?”
In this session, Kallum Desai (Technical Lead) and Celine McLoughlin-Jenkins (Primary Author) will share insights from their research for MHCLG, which examines the practical, technical, and economic implications of measuring and reducing embodied carbon in buildings, highlighting current challenges, data limitations, and potential pathways for industry adoption.
For those interested in advanced reading, the report published on the 7th of July 2025 can be found here
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions to the team at the end of the session. To make the most of this, we would ask for you to submit any potential questions you might have in advance by filling the online form or via email at embodiedcarbon@saraht79.sg-host.com.
If you have missed any of the previous sessions of the Carbon Clinics, you can catch up by watching the recordings: https://youtu.be/gf9YSQECc4w?si=6yDIdphhZtj8MNxl
Recommended training ahead of the session
To get the most out of these embodied carbon sessions, it’s helpful to have some background on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) theory, including an understanding of life cycle modules, functional units, system boundaries, environmental impact categories, and data sources (e.g., Environmental Product Declarations).
We recommend watching Construction Carbon’s Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) Foundation Training course before attending the webinars to maximise your learning. This free learning resource, now managed by CIBSE, offers six modules and additional certification opportunities. You can watch the modules independently or register through CIBSE for the full training, which includes a virtual webinar, an assessment quiz (minimum pass rate required), and a certificate.
